Fucoidan is a natural sulfated polysaccharide that exists mainly in the cell wall matrix of various species of brown seaweed such as Mozuku, Wakame, Kombu, Limumoui, and Bladderwrack. The brown seaweeds containing fucoidan are widely consumed as part of the normal diet in East Asia, particularly Japan, China, and Korea. Recent research shows that fucoidan does, indeed, have multiple effects against various kinds of cancer (2015). Two such effects are particularly valuable.
